Husam Alkhersam, M.D., was born in Austin, Texas while his father was studying at the University of Texas. He returned to Iraq where he graduated from Al-Mustansiriyah University, College of Medicine in Baghdad in 1989. Dr. Alkhersam did his neurology residency at Oklahoma University College of Medicine in Oklahoma City from 1993-1997. He did his fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas from 1998-1999, focusing on the treatment of epilepsy, sleep disorders and neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Alkhersam is board certified in Adult Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Electrodiagnostics Medicine (EMG). His experience includes three years at Henry Ford Electrodiagnostic Laboratory which is one of the busiest EMG labs in the nation. He also has several years of experience using Botox injections for neurological disorders and headache management. Dr. Alkhersam is a fellow of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He particularly enjoys treating patients with sleep disorders and interpreting sleep studies.
Dr. Alkhersam is married and has three children.
